Former IPL Champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has appointed Simon Katich as their assistant coach for IPL 2016.Simon Katich is former Australian opener will be assisting head coach Jacques Kallis. Kallis welcomed the decision as he said, “It is great to have Simon on my management team. I have played many games against him and his understanding of the game is very good. He is a great asset to have. I really look forward to formulating plans with him and the rest of the team to help KKR to another title in 2016.” 

Simon Matthew Katich (born 21 August 1975,Middle Swan, Western Australia) is an Australian cricketer. He is a former captain of the New South Wales Blues, and also captained, up until the end of the 2007 season,Derbyshire County Cricket Club.In England he played for Lancashire up until the end of the 2014 season and represents birth state Western Australia in Australian Domestic Cricket. He has also played for the Indian Premier League team, Kings XI Punjab.

Katich carries with himself a wealth of international cricket experience. He retired from T20s to end his playing career in July 2014. He led the Perth Scorchers to the Big Bash title in the 2013-14 season. He has also played in the 2009 edition of the IPL where he represented Kings XI Punjab.
